Data Recovery Guide
Practical steps to protect your files after device failure, with links to our recovery services and assessment process.
What to do after data loss
Start by protecting the original device. Avoid saving new files, installing recovery software on the affected drive, or formatting a disk that contains files you need. New writes can overwrite recoverable data. If the device contains the only copy of important files, seek advice before attempting repairs.
A hard drive clicks or is not detected
Unusual clicking, repeated disconnects or a drive that does not appear normally can indicate a hardware problem. Stop repeated connection attempts and do not open the drive enclosure. A diagnosis is needed to distinguish mechanical, electronic and firmware faults; the same symptom does not always have the same cause.
Hard drive data recovery: assessment and recovery options
An SSD, USB drive or memory card is inaccessible
Do not accept a format prompt if you still need the files. Avoid changing partitions or running repair utilities that write to the original device. Keep a physically damaged flash drive or memory card in its current condition for inspection rather than attempting to solder or straighten it yourself.
Prepare for a technical assessment
Note the device model, what happened before the failure, any error messages and the actions already attempted. Tell us whether encryption is enabled and whether a separate backup exists. Do not send passwords or confidential files through a public comment form. Recovery options depend on the condition of the device and the data; an outcome cannot be guaranteed before assessment.
